Zomato

Zomato is a restaurant search and discovery app that provides information and reviews on restaurants, including images of menus where the restaurant does not have its own website.

Zomato lets you search for and discover restaurants to eat out at or order in from. Browse through restaurant menus, photos, user reviews and ratings to decide where you want to eat, and use the map feature to guide you there.

Zomato was founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. With headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, INDIA, the company currently operates in 23 countries, including India, Australia, and United States.

Zomato is used by consumers globally to discover, rate, and review restaurants, as well as create their own personal networks of fellow food enthusiasts for trusted recommendations. 

Zomato has expanded significantly and today, have a team of more than 5000 Zomans, that represents 32 nationalities, and helps millions of users every day to decide where to eat through 1.4 million listed restaurants or deliver over 28 million food orders per month. 

 

Zomato is backed by Tiger Global, Ant Financial, Alipay Singapore, Sequoia Capital India, Temasek Holdings, Baillie Gifford, Kora, Vy Capital, Luxor and others. The company raised $250M in a new round on Feb 22, 2021. This brings Zomato's total funding to $2.2B to date. The latest round pushed Zomato's valuation to $5.4B, up from the previous $3.9B valuation after the Series J raised in Dec 2020.

 

Zomato has made 13 acquisitions to date including a $60M acquisition of Urbanspoon in 2015, a $18M buy-out of TongueStun Food in Sep 2018.
