Vedantu is an interactive online tutoring platform where teachers provide school tuitions to students over the internet, using a real-time virtual learning environment named WAVE, a technology built in-house.

Vedantu uses technology to bring together teachers and students on a single platform to enable live learning between them.

Vedantu was incorporated in 2011, by Saurabh Saxena, Vamsi Krishna, Pulkit Jain, and Anand Prakash. The company has its headquarter based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

 

Vedantu offers live and interactive courses for students in grades six through 12. Students who have enrolled for the interactive sessions tap on their smartphone screen or click on the desktop to answer questions.

 

Vedantu's primary business is live online tutoring in science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), English, Mathematics, Hindi, Sanskrit, German, French, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Social Science.

 

Vedantu also has partnerships with Airtel and Tata Sky to offer its courses on their respective satellite cable TVs, offers a large library of lessons at no cost to students. Vedantu has amassed over 35 million monthly active users, and as of last year, had 200,000 paying customers.

 

Vedantu is backed by Coatue Management, Tiger Global, Accel, GGV Capital, WestBridge, ABC World Asia, Omidyar, Trifecta Capital, and others. The company raised $100M in Series E round on Sep 29, 2021. This brings Vedantu's total funding to $296.4M to date. The latest round mints Vedantu a unicorn with a valuation of $1B post-money.
