Tarana Wireless

Tarana Wireless is a wireless network provider whose mission is to accelerate the deployment of fast, affordable internet access around the world.

Tarana is the industry’s performance leader and new category creator in next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA).

Tarana was co-founded in 2009 by Dale Branlund, Omar Bakr, Kevin Jones, Sergiu Nedevschi, Rabin Patra, Sergiu Nedevschi and Mustafa Ergen. The company is headquartered in Milpitas, California, with additional research and development in Pune, India.

Tarana has created a unique next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology instantiated in its first commercial platform, Gigabit 1 (G1). It delivers a game-changing advance in broadband economics in both mainstream and underserved markets, using either licensed or unlicensed spectrum.

Tarana’s G1 platform supplies the key missing ingredient in enabling wireless ISPs to offer highly competitive broadband, take share, and grow value in their businesses — at a months-not-years deployment pace competitive technologies just cannot match.”

Tarana's G1 is now deployed by more than 270 service providers, including MTN, BT, Liberty, Wisper Internet, Redzone, and Resound Networks. Tarana is now present in 21 countries, and in 41 of the 50 states in the US.

Tarana is backed by Axon Capital, Khosla Ventures, Prime Movers Lab, Digital Alpha, TPG, Michigan State Pension Fund, I Squared Capital, and otehrs. The company raised $50M in a new round on Sep 13, 2023. This brings Tarana's total funding to $426.1M to date.
