Swappie is a marketplace for buying and selling refurbished smartphones.

Swappie is on a mission to provide customers with a way to upgrade their phones that is high quality, more affordable and environmentally friendly.

Swappie was co-founded in 2016 by Sami Marttinen and Jiri Heinonen. The company is headquartered in Helsinki, Finanland and currently operates in presence in 15 countries, including Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Italy.

 

Swappie purchases large amounts of used devices from both private persons in Finland and companies all around Europe. The company operates its own refurbishment factory in the Nordics and sells directly to consumers via its online store. 

 

Swappie controls the entire supply chain, managing the entire process, from testing and repairing used handsets, to selling the refurbished devices direct to consumers, with at least a 12-month warranty.

 

Swappie is backed by Verdane, Lifeline Ventures, Reaktor Ventures, TESI, Inventure Investors, and others. The company raised $124M (€108M) in Series C round on Feb 15, 2022. This brings Swappie's total funding to $172M (€150.5M) to date.
