Starship Technologies

Starship is a technology company building fleets of self-driving delivery robots designed to deliver goods locally within 30 minutes.

Starship's delivery platform enables a new era of instant delivery that works around your schedule at much lower costs.

Starship was founded in 2014 Estonia, by Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, with engineering operations in Tallinn, Estonia. Starship also has offices in London, UK, Germany, Washington, DC and Mountain View, California.

Starship operates its fleet as a level 4 autonomous system, meaning humans are monitoring at an operations center for issues, and can take over if a vehicle finds itself in an unexpected pickle, but that is not the default.

Starship's robots are equipped with a sensor suite that includes cameras, GPS and inertial measurement unit, possibly also other sensors but notably no LIDAR. The robot will have microphones and speakers, so they can communicate with humans they meet.

Starship has now made more than 2.5 million commercial deliveries and travelled over 3 million miles globally. Its fleet is making 10,000 deliveries per day.

Starship is backed by TDK Ventures, European Investment Bank, Shasta Ventures, Goodyear Ventures, NordicNinja, Morpheus Ventures, Taavet+Sten, Matrix Partners, MetaPlanet Holdings, and others. The company raised another $42M in a new Series B round on Mar 01, 2022. This brings Starship's total funding to $197.8M to date.
