SkyDrive is a leading developer of zero-emission flying vehicles and heavy-lift cargo drones.

SkyDrive developing flying cars, and cargo drones that are capable of transporting objects weighing 30 kg in order to realise a future that utilises the sky for everyday transportation.

SkyDrive was founded in 2018, mainly by members of the voluntary group, “CARTIVATOR” established in 2012. The company is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.

 

SkyDrive's held a manned flight of Japan’s first flying car in 2019. It is currently developing a two-seater vehicle, the SkyDrive SD-05 (“SD-05”),. The company is planning to launch air taxi service in the Osaka Bay area during the world exposition scheduled for 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

 

SkyDrive has also been promoting the full-scale launch of its cargo drone business and the development of its commercial vehicle, the SD-05. 

 

SkyDrive signed a partnership agreement with Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City for the realization of flying cars in September 2021. SkyDrive also collaborated with JCAB of the MLIT for the establishment of the Certification Basis for Type Certification based on the “JCAB Airworthiness Inspection Manual (AIM) ” this past March.

 

SkyDrive is backed by Development Bank of Japan Inc., Itochu Corporation, MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, ITOCHU Technology Ventures, ENEOS Innovation Partners, Obayashi Corporation, NEC Corporation, Pegasus Tech Ventures, and others. The company raised ¥9.6B ($66.4M) in Series C round on Sep 26, 2022. This brings SkyDrive's total funding to ¥15.3B ($1117.1M) to date.
