ŌURA was founded in 2013 by Petteri Lahtela, Kari Kivelä, and Markku Koskela. The company is headquartered in Oulu, Finland, with offices in with offices in Helsinki, San Francisco, and San Diego.

 

ŌURA Ring tracks your sleep habits to help you achieve better sleep. It does this by measuring the blood volume pulse from your finger’s palmar arteries, detecting the direction and intensity of your body’s movements using a 3D accelerometer and gyroscope and by measuring your temperature through three NTC temperature sensors.

 

ŌURA launched Ring Gen3, which delivers a host of new, more sophisticated, research-grade hardware sensors and software features including daytime heart rate monitoring, an improved temperature tracking system, new period prediction capabilities, and guided meditation and sleep content.

 

ŌURA has sold more than 1 million rings to date. A number of major leagues have adopted the ring, including the NBA, WNBA, UFC and NASCAR.

 

Oura is backed by Gradient Ventures, Temasek, The Chernin Group, JAZZ Venture Partners, Elysian Park, Square, Forerunner Ventures, MSD Capital, and others. The company raised an undisclosed amount on Apr 06, 2022. The round valued ŌURA at a $2.55B post-money. The company has raised a total of $148.3M in funding to date.
