OneWeb

OneWeb, formerly known as WorldVu Satellites, is a global communications company, on a mission to bridge the digital divide. Through a global constellation of satellites, OneWeb will provide high-speed, affordable broadband to the world.

OneWeb deploys a micro-satellite constellation to provide global high-speed, low latency broadband access.

OneWeb was founded in 2012 under the name WorldVu, by Greg Wyler. The company is based in London, United Kingdom and McLean, Virginia.

OneWeb is launching a global constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, which will allow us to provide high-speed, low latency service to the world.

OneWeb commenced launches of the OneWeb satellite constellation, a network of more than 650 low Earth orbit satellites, in February 2019, and by March 2020, had launched 74 of the planned 648 satellites in the initial constellation.

OneWeb launched 36 new satellites in Dec 2020, which rought the total number in orbit to 110 satellites. This means there are still more than 500 left to launch in the first generation.

OneWeb is backed by SoftBank, Airbus, Qualcomm, Grupo Salinas, Microsoft, Eutelsat, Virgin, Hughes, Intelsat, Coca-Cola and others. The company raised $550M (£395M) in new round on Apr 27, 2021. This brings OneWeb's total funding to $3.95B to date.
