Hopper

Hopper is an online travel booking app that lets users book flights, hotels, cars, and short-term home rentals a la Airbnb and VRBO.

Hopper is on a mission to build the most customer-centric travel company on earth.

Hopper was founded in 2007 by Frederic Lalonde and Joost Ouwerkerk. The company is headquartered in Montreal, QC, with offices in New York, Boston and Sofia, Bulgaria.

Hopper combines its world-class travel agency offering with proprietary fintech products, such as Price Freeze and Rebooking Guarantee, to save travelers money. The company differentiates itself from rival travel services with features such as airfare price freezes, “cancel for any reason” and flight disruption guarantees.

Hopper launched Hopper Cloud, a B2B partnership program that allows travel providers including Kayak, Marriott and Trip.com to resell Hopper’s fintech and travel agency products through a white-label portal.

Hopper has evolved into one of the largest travel apps in North America, with more than 80M downloads and sales of flights, hotels, homes and rental cars on the platform set to exceed $4.5 billion this year.

Hopper is backed by WestCap, CDPQ, Goldman Sachs Growth, Capital One, OMERS, Citi Ventures, Accomplice, Drive Capital, Inovia Capital, GPI Capital, Glade Brook Capital, Brightspark, and others. The company closed a $96M follow-on investment on Nov 07, 2022. This brings Hopper's total funding to $729.7M to date. Hopper was valued at a $5B in its previous financing in Feb 2022.
