Divergent

Divergent is a developer of a novel platform designed to serve as an alternative to entire automotive production lines.

Divergent Technologies seeks to make the vehicle manufacturing process more efficient and less wasteful using additive manufacturing (AM), colloquially known as 3D printing.

Divergent was founded in 2014 by Kevin Czinger. The company is headquartered in Torrance, California.

Divergent has invented a complete manufacturing solution to address system level challenges. The Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) is a complete software hardware solution designed to replace traditional vehicle manufacturing.

The DAPS software-hardware stack was developed in-house, with over 500 patent filings across the system. This approach enables both low- and high-volume manufacturing without the costly tooling and capital expenses of the past, enabling manufacturers to quickly iterate and invent new product models.

Divergent is currently in development with 8 initial OEM brands on vehicle structure programs with production volumes ranging from 100s to hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the models' production life, with the first program entering production this year.

Divergent is backed by Horizons Ventures, Altran Technologies, John L. Thornton, David Beirne, Hedosophia, Alumni Ventures, Blue Ivy Ventures, Shanghai Alliance Investment, and others. The company raised $160M in Series C round on Apr 25, 2022. This brings Divergent's total funding to $248M to date. The latest round valued the company at over $1B post-money.
