Beam is a shared micromobility operator that focuses on expanding transportation options in Asia.
Beam is on a mission to turn little drives into better rides, and make cities flow better for everyone.
Beam was founded in 2018 by Alan Jiang and Deb Gangopadhyay. The company is headquartered in Singapore.
Beam currently operates e-scooters and e-bikes in 35 cities across Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, aims to spread into markets like Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Turkey.
Beam's new Generation 3 scooter is custom-built for sharing, and designed for safety, reliability and durability. Its new Apollo e-bike is the smoothest ride in town, with pedal assist power that kicks in once the bike hits 3km/hr, rear-wheel drive for stability and control, and a powerful dual-braking system.
Beam is also deploying a new fifth-generation Beam Saturn, a next-gen e-scooter which will come with an updated version of Beam’s safety platform, dubbed Micromobility Augmented Riding Safety (MARS), which helps protect pedestrians and enhance local governments’ control over where e-vehicles can park or ride.
Beam is backed by Sequoia Capital India, Founders Fund, Affirma Capital, Gobi Partners, RTP Global, AppWorks, EDBI, Hana Ventures, Right Click, Arbor Ventures, ICT Capital, and others. The company raised $93M in Series B round on Feb 25, 2022. This brings Beam's total funding to $125.4M to date.
