Air Protein

Air Protein, a spun off from the Kiverdi, is a pioneer in air-based nutritional protein that requires no agriculture or farmland, decoupling protein production from traditional supply chain risks.

Air Protein is on a mission to feed the world with healthy, delicious foods made from the most sustainable source of protein.

Air Protein was founded in 2019 by Lisa Dyson and John Reed. The company is headquartered in Berkeley, California.

Air Protein uses a novel technology inspired by NASA to convert elements found in the air around us into protein using probiotic cultures, then turn those proteins into any meat imaginable.

Air Protein is working on several product lines. The company has long been planning to launch meat analogs — including Air Chicken and Air Seafood — made from the protein they produce.

Air Protein has forged a strategic development agreement with ADM to collaborate on research and development to further advance new and novel proteins for nutrition. The partnership also includes mutually exclusive rights for ADM and Air Protein to collaborate to build and operate a commercial-scale Air Protein plant.

Air Protein is backed by ADM Ventures, GV, Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, Ford Foundation, Unreasonable Collective, Plum Alley, and others. The company raised $75M in a SAFE round on May 19, 2023. This brings Air Protein's total funding to $107M to date.
